Kick-start your adventure with an early pick-up from your hotel, followed by a delightful breakfast in Mollepata. Our journey begins in Soraypampa (3900 m.a.s.l.), where we will rendezvous with our skilled horsemen and reliable horses, responsible for transporting our camping equipment. From Soraypampa, we’ll embark on an invigorating hike to the magnificent Humantay Lake (4200 m.a.s.l.), marveling at its breathtaking beauty.
After the awe-inspiring visit to Humantay Lake, we’ll return to Soraypampa, where our talented cook will be eagerly awaiting us with a scrumptious lunch. Next, we’ll proceed to our basecamp, Salkantaypampa, where panoramic vistas of the snow-capped Salkantay peak await us. Unwind and indulge in an afternoon tea, taking in the stunning surroundings, before treating yourself to a delectable dinner prepared with care and expertise.
Start your day by awakening to the invigorating aroma of coca tea, followed by a sumptuous breakfast accompanied by breathtaking mountain views. Brace yourself for an unforgettable experience as we embark on a 3-hour ascent to reach the majestic Salkantay Pass, standing tall at an elevation of 4600 m.a.s.l. After reaching the summit, we will make our way towards Wayrac Machaq, where a well-deserved lunch awaits us. Continuing our journey, we’ll venture into the enchanting high jungle, where sprawling trees stretch their arms over babbling streams, adorned with vibrant bromeliads and exquisite orchids. Traverse through this picturesque landscape as we gradually descend towards our second campsite, soaking in the tranquility and beauty that surrounds us.
Rise and shine with an early wake-up call, followed by a satisfying breakfast. After a well-deserved lunch, we continue our journey with a three-hour ascent to the remarkable Llactapata campsite, perched atop a mountain. This idyllic location offers a breathtaking vantage point, directly facing the awe-inspiring wonder of Machu Picchu. Today’s adventure takes you on a downhill trek towards Hydroelectric, where a delightful lunch awaits. After rejuvenating yourself, we’ll continue our journey with an additional three hours of hiking, leading us to Aguas Calientes. In this charming town, you’ll have the pleasure of spending the night in a comfortable hotel, allowing you to rest and recharge in preparation for the grand finale of your expedition.
In and around Machu Picchu
After breakfast, we take the early buses up to Machu Picchu for the sunrise. Explore the best of Machu Picchu with your private tour guide. Once you finish, you will take train and bus back to Cusco.
